How
to install the PC Retriever on a Windows 7 machine
Software:
- Insert
the CD and the Autoplay screen will pop up
- Select
“Run PCRetrieverSetup.exe” and the installation will start
Hardware/Drivers:
1.
Plug the PC Retriever into an
open USB port on your computer
2.
Click on the Windows logo to
open up the Start Menu
3.
Find where it says “Computer”
and right-click
4.
Select “Properties”
- On the left side of the
window, select “Device Manager”
- Under “Other devices”,
right-click on “PC Retriever Vehicle Interface” and select “Properties
- Select “Update Driver…”
- Select the option “Browse
my computer for driver software”
- Click “Browse…” and point
it to the location of your CD player which contains the PC Retriever CD.
- Select “Install this driver
anyway”
- Windows will now install
the first of two PC Retriever drivers
- You will get this screen
if the driver installed correctly
- Now install the 2nd of
two drivers for the PC Retriever. In the Device Manager, you will right-click
on “USB Serial Port” and select “Properties.” Follow the above steps
6 through 12 and do the same procedure for this driver.
